Playgrounds are expensive. Each member of the Playground Committee has been shocked by the prices quoted from playground companies. We also need to pay for wood chips, fabric to cover the sand, some excavation, timbers and installation of all these items.
Our Playground committee has been raising money for several years We have sold coupon books, held BBQ’s , Airband Competitions and Outdoor Movie Nights. We have bowled and run 5k’s, but most of these events only raise about $2500. In 2014, we received 501 c 3 Federal Not-for-profit status which allows us to reach out to individuals and companies for larger donations which are tax deductible. It also allows us to apply for grants. We are working on this now.
There are many ways to help. When you shop at amazon, go through smile.amazon.com and choose Geyser Road PTO as your charity. All money raised will towards the playground fund. Does your company have an employee matching gift program? Do you know of anyone who can help us fund our playground or grants we can apply for? Please let us know.
